Join our team as a Poultry Farm Project Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced Poultry Farm Coordinator who will be in charge of the production processes as well as general management and marketing of the products for the economic empowerment of women along the Lake Victoria Region (Mbita & Kendu Bay). The project is implemented in partnership with Together Women Can, an international non-profit organization with support from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. About Wa-Wa Kenya

WA-WA Kenya is a registered Non-Governmental Organization and founded with the aim to stop ’sex for fish’ practices by empowering women and girls around Lake Victoria regions to establish an opportunity for them to improve their livelihoods. Wa-Wa seeks to establish a strategic partnership with organizations to improve access to basic, quality education and adolescent development by working towards transformed institutions, laws, and communities that respect the rights of children, especially the vulnerable girls in fisher communities in Homa Bay County.

 

The position:

Main tasks

1.Ensure that farm activities comply with government regulations

2.Monitor animal health and welfare, including liaising with vets

3.Maintaining knowledge of pests and diseases control and understanding of how they spread and treat them is an added advantage.

4.Ensure animal products are ready for deadlines, such as markets

5.Ready to undertake communications needs of the project

6.Ensure health and safety standards across the farm estate are followed

7.Arranging the maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery, and equipment

8.Ensuring timely and quality production and professional marketing of the products

9.Keeping of database of all the beneficiaries, clients, donors, and potential partners

10.Able to leverage the other available opportunities

11.Ready to exchange and collaborate with other coordinators of the cervical health  screening project

12.Ready to coordinate fieldwork activities during kuku outreaches

13.Ready to develop, implement and evaluate business plans, operating budgets, and strategic plans when necessary.

14.To safeguard both organization’s physical and intangible assets by instituting proper internal control systems and procedures

15.To ensure the Directors are informed on the animal’s performance through the provision of quality periodic reports

16.To ensure proper management of the organization’s projects through carrying out their monitoring and evaluation

17.Budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records

18.Carry out any other roles assigned by the Management from time to time.

19.Find market for the ready products.

Functional Knowledge and skills

1.Administrative – well conversant with administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology

2.Sales and Marketing – Knowledgeable in principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.

3.Education and Training – Able to understand the principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

4.Building and Construction – Knowledgeable in materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.

5.Production and Processing – Knowledgeable in raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

 

 

Your profile

1.Diploma in Business Administration or marketing

2.At least 3 years of experience in a busy poultry production establishment

3.Analytical with attention to detail

4.Able to drive in Kenya as additional skills

5.Good organizational, communication, interpersonal, cross-culture, and team skills

6.Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills

7.Essential: Expert knowledge of English and Luo
