We are seeking an enthusiastic research nurse as a project coordinator to join our team at Wa-Wa Kenya to coordinate an exciting project on cervical cancer prevention and the economic empowerment of women along the Lake Victoria Region (Mbita & Kendu Bay). The project is implemented in partnership with Together Women Can, an international non-profit organization with support from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. About Wa-Wa Kenya

WA-WA Kenya is a registered Non-Governmental Organization, and founded with an aim to stop ’sex for fish’ practices by empowering women and girls around Lake Victoria regions to establish an opportunity for them to improve their livelihoods. Wa-Wa seeks to establish a strategic partnership with organizations to improve access to basic, quality education and adolescent development by working towards transformed institutions, laws and communities that respect the rights of children, especially the vulnerable girls in fisher communities in Homa Bay County.

The position:

Main tasks

1.Coordination of communication activities and organization of stakeholder meetings with County/Sub-County officials to contribute towards strengthening Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), cervical health       screening, and HPV vaccination programs.

2.Responsible for coordinating and organizing h ealthcare worker      and community health volunteer training (identifying venue, communication with stakeholders involved, agenda drafting, coordinating the design and printing of communication  material)

3.Close collaboration and interaction with Clinical Officers, h ealthcare workers, and      community health volunteers and assist in strengthening communication, reporting, referrals, and patient follow-up

4.Responsible for procurement of project material (equipment and supplies for cervical cancer screening)

5.Coordinate and support community outreach screenings and vaccination campaigns

6.Assist in screening and vaccination data monitoring and collection to ensure accurate data collection for impact reporting and publication services

7.Support in developing technical and program implementation guidelines related to SRHR and cervical health screening and prevention program

8.Assist in developing and initiating the standard operating procedures for cervical health  screening (VIA/VILI) and HPV testing for screening of cervical cancer.

9.Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the management. This includes duty travel or duty-station reassignment on short notice as per the program requirements.

10.Support in capacity building (juniors, interns, women, youth) to improve access to SRHR and cervical health screening and prevention services.

11.Provide technical support to develop monthly reports on project status

12.Assist in collecting and organizing data for clinical research publication

13.Budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records

Your profile

1.Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Clinical medicine

2.At least 3 years of demonstrable experience working in a sexual reproductive health program

3.Previous experience with cervical cancer prevention programs is an advantage

4.Good understanding of service delivery structures for reproductive health services and related guidelines

5.A driving license is an advantage

6.Excellent knowledge of public health systems and procedures required to work at the County and Sub- County levels

7.Ability to work closely with the County government/sub-counties and other key stakeholders

8.Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences

9.Excellent written and oral communication skills: expert knowledge of English and Luo is essential

10.Excellent problem-solving skills and flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances

11.Comfortable in working and reporting project progress to an international team of partners

12.Proven ability to work under pressure and multitask

13.Good computer skills including office software applications, email communication, and Zoom

14.Enthusiasm, alignment with Wa-Wa Kenya’s values, and passion for social impact.
