Industrious Quinter

Through Fashion and Design Project supported by Impact direct and AFAS Foundation, Quinter a mother of three who showed interest of becoming industrious in the sector of Afri-bags manufacturing is now having a new meaning in life.   It is also important to note that Quinter has benefited from a fashion and design project since November 2021, she acquired one sewing machine and now able to manage her own tailoring shop. Two months ago, we received some orders of Afri-bags and jewelries to be taken to the outside world market and Quinter was one of the participants who participated in ensuring that enough bags were produced with speed. If you ask her today, she’ll tell you that her life is completely changed and at the moment she can easily make up to 500 ksh a day. As a widow, she can easily take care of her family with ease.

KUKU for Cervical Cancer screening in Rusinga

Men’s health project which is also connected to mental health of women and men along Lake Victoria region in regards reducing the health effects of alcohol and drug substance abuse is a venture squarely supported by Making More Health. The project is to ensure that men are involved as key stakeholders in championing women’s health and not turning women into a punching bag which the n putting them in a bad state.  After training of 24 champions, we therefore focused on the linking our beneficiaries to the relevant institutions for rehabilitations. Black soldier fly training was conducted to 20 participants where 12 got interested and later received 100 one day old chicks to be reared as a source of income generating activity, two months later, a table banking kit was issued to them after entrepreneurial and financial training. It is in our plan that with the table banking and ‘kuku’, they will be able to have their health insurance cover.
